Status of SBL support in Zotero

I am in the process of setting up a new Jewish Studies journal. We have still to decide which citation style we are going to use. Some in the editorial board prefer SBL, which looks like a fine choice, but I would also like to take into account what can be achieved with reference managers as I hope this will make the editorial workflow easier later on.

Any recommendations? Best practices? Something that doesn't work?
  • I think the SBL style works pretty well for secondary sources and is well coded and maintained.

Various abbreviations (e.g. for series) are a challenge and scriptural citations as well as standard comments on scriptural texts are not respectively poorly supported. All of those are due to limits in Zotero/CSL, so SBL is about as good as you're going to get and I would very much recommend using that. It's also a prime candidate to get updated as facilities in Zotero/CSL improve.
