Upgrade StorageUpgrade to Office 365 64 bit?

I'm on a 64-bit Windows10 PC but for some reason they installed a 32-bit office 365 version. It's a research PC for a phd study.
I wanted to upgrade to a 64-bit version of Office as I will be working with large data sets, but have just been in contact with our IT support who strongly suggested staying with the 32-bit version as there was no support for the Zotero plug in for af 64-bit system.
Can anyone confirm this? Is it correct, that if I upgrade to a 64-bit Office 365 i won't be able to ude the Zotero Plug-in and hence not be able to manage citations?
