Breakdown of file sizes in Zotero storage

Every time I add a new reference to my library, I upload the corresponding PDF so that I can easily consult the source across the multiple machines I use my Zotero account on. This, of course, has the side effect of filling up my storage, and I may need to clear some space soon.

A good way for me to manage my storage would be to eliminate the largest files. Given that the average filesize of a paper is about .3-.5 MB, even getting rid of one or two 5-10 MB files would free up significant room. But I have no way to know what files are taking up most of the room in my storage, and it would be great to browse that.
  • You can use a disk usage tool for your OS (e.g., GrandPerspective on macOS) and scan the 'storage' subdirectory of the Zotero data directory. Then type or paste the 8-character name of the parent folder into the Zotero search bar in All Fields & Tags mode to find and delete the attachment item. (You'll need to empty the trash for the file to be removed.)
