Using zotero across Mac, iPad and linux
I have a macbook for my personal computer and a linux machine for my work computer. I have been using zotero with the zotero cloud to sync between the two. However I recently purchased an iPad to make handwritten notes on papers and would like to keep the notes synced across computers (the same pdf file with writing on it). I was hoping to use zotfile to move the files to iCloud and access them through my iPad. However when i did this with a couple papers in my library, they became unavailable on my linux system. The linux system cannot find the file. Can someone point me to what could be wrong?
Within zotero on mac, Preferences>Advanced>Files and Folders, my data directory is set to a folder on my laptop, say folder A. In zotfile preferences, Source Folder is set to folder A and Location of files is set to custom folder on iCloud, iCloud A.
I haven't changed or modified any settings on linux machine. Not sure if I should change anything there.
The goal is to be able to edit the pdfs on my mac, linux machine and iPad and have the file sync across systems and be available with all the changes. May be its not possible. I tried papership but its not working properly.
Is iCloud the wrong thing to use since one of the machines is linux? would dropbox be better?
