get bibliographical details

From which website do you take bibliographical details for articles and books. Especially books, actually. I tried worldcat, google books, openLib. But they leave certain fields empty, such as "place".
How do you manage that?

    You can use the magic wand tool with the ISBN.
    Amazon is not bad either.

    Whenever possible, proper library catalogs, like Library of Congress (which is also where the attempt for ISBN goes to).
    Articles, almost always straight from the publisher site. Otherwise DOIs.
