You have automatic updating disabled in your document. This can help to speed up citations in long documents. The dashes indicate that the citation might not have the correct final formatting yet.
You can update all of the citations to their final formats by clicking the Refresh button in the Zotero tab, or you can re-enable automatic updating in the Document Preferences window.
