I can't get the font formatted in this text box. The following should be adjusted. to the above reference examples:
- Journal Name should be italicized
- Volume # should be in bold font
- Book title should be italicized

The new guidelines are here, but that guide is not giving any examples how citations should look like. No example publication/paper was given to base the style on.

I found a couple of typeset papers on RG -- citation style is all over the place, so we'd really need an authoritative guide for authors

You're ignoring what was written above.
The journal doesn't have one uniform style. What you could do is write to the journal and ask them to specify their guidelines. Or they might just tell you "Use whatever..." and that's your answer then.
