Moved Zotero folder-- now can't move back and all is gone

I stupidly moved the Zotero folder from my home folder on my Mac into my applications folder and now all is gone. When I try to move it back into the home folder it just places an alias. Now nothing works. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Holding down Cmd when dragging should force it to move instead of create an alias. (When you dragged it to Applications, you likely had to authenticate as an admin, and that changed the ownership of the files. Holding down Cmd will force it to move the protected files, which will likely prompt again for permission.)
