No more free space : how to optimize storage ?
Hello,
I have been using zotero for several years, and for the first time, I received a message to say that I had not more space on my storage capacity (free storage, 300MB).
I guess that it comes from the pdf stored in Zotero (more than citations, which are probably not limiting by themselves ?).
It is not a problem for me to delete the pdf in Zotero, because they are stored on a hard drive. However, I would like to keep a link between the citation in Zotero, and the file wherever it could be on the hardrive.
And the real challenge here is also how to do it properly (and automatically) for all the references ?
Usually, the way I add a new reference is this one :
I read a paper on the internet. It is interesting, so I add the reference in zotero (without the pdf). I download the pdf on my hardrive. And then, I find the file on my hardrive and take it to the reference in Zotero. I thought that in this way, it stayed only on my hardrive, but I was probably wrong ?
Thanks a lot for the help,

The easiest approach for you will be to install the Zotfile plugin: http://zotfile.com
Then, in Zotfile preferences, set it to move PDFs that are downloaded automatically when you add an item from your browser or drag a PDF to Zotero to the folder where you want them stored on your hard drive.
