How do I add PDF(s) to group library?

I have created private group library. I am only member. I have view & edit permissions. In desktop client, I left click on group library name to select it. Reference pane is empty (no items). I drag PDF to empty pane. Pane displays PDF icon with + copy. Drop. File not added. No error message. Left click 'New Item' icon & select 'Store Copy of File'. Get message "You cannot add files to the currently selected collection."

How do I add PDF file(s) to private group library that I have created?
  • Make sure file adding/editing is enabled for the group in the group settings on this site and that you sync successfully once to make sure they're updated locally (e.g. add one item locally and check that it appears online).
  • Thank you Adam Smith! I was on Group Settings page and not Library Settings page. Selecting 'File Editing->Any group members radio button solved problem. I can now upload PDFs to group library. Your invisible hand is well appreciated!
  • Thanks for the notes. However, I found to work when you are in public status, you can't add any pdf files to your group library. Only when you changed to private status, then allowed me add files.
  • Public Open groups (where anyone can join without invitation/confirmation) do not allow files to be added at all.

    You can have a Public Closed group (members must be invited or accepted in order to join) with file attachments. Those files will only be accessible by members, not outside users, but the rest of the library can be visible to anyone on the internet if you choose.
