For kindle books, I recommend you import them from the Amazon purchase page. You could also copy the ISBN number from the beginning of the book and add the item to Zotero using the Add by Identifier (magic wand) tool.
In terms of linking to the Kindle book from Zotero, the best way is to use the Kindle web app at https://read.amazon.com/
Where the "B00J5W908W" part is the ASIN number you can find on the Kindle book's Amazon product page. You can get this link premade for you by clicking the Read Now button on the Kindle book's Amazon product page, then copying the URL.
So, you were very helpful when I first got started. I am helping a friend get set up. He is using MLA 9th edition. When he copies footnote to clipboard, it only copies the author's name, not the full note data. We cannot find a setting that tells it to pull all the cited data. Can you help?

Right click on the book in Zotero and choose Add Attachment → Attach Link to URI, then enter a URL of the form: https://read.amazon.com/?asin=B00J5W908W

Thank you so much, I was looking for that in the forum for hours yesterday, just couldn't find it.
