Using dropbox for pdf syncing- can't find pdfs

Hi all,

Brand new to Zotero! I set mine up using this tutorial (https://www.researchgate.net/publication/325828616_Tutorial_The_Best_Reference_Manager_Setup_Zotero_ZotFile_Cloud_Storage). I believe this sets the pdfs/files to be located in my cloud app rather than on my desktop.

Just spent all day adding references to my Zotero only to find that my drop box folder I created is empty. The attached file "blue dots" are next to all my references and I can open and annotate all my pdfs. Any idea where they might be stored?

I don't want to go to the effort to annotate all of them if they will just be lost in the future.

Thanks!
  • I'd guess that they're just saved as stored files in the Zotero data directory, where they go by default. You can right-click on an attachment and select Show File to show it in the filesystem.

Others would need to help with configuring ZotFile.
