some citations fail to include field codes

Using Office 365 Word for mac, some of the citations - but not all - do not have field codes. I have redone them several times using both regular and classic view, and can't figure out a pattern. It's different citations, in different parts of the document, and it's sporadic.

What specific version number of Word (16.0.57, etc.) and version of Zotero?

Are you saving the document in a format other than .docx?

If you're sure you're saving as .docx, you can try reinstalling the Word plugin from the Cite pane of the preferences with Word closed. @adomasven may have some other ideas, but as far as I know this isn't any sort of issue we're aware of.
