Style Error: JAMA

JAMA styles is coming out:

1. Russ AJ, Shim JK, Kaufman SR. The value of “life at any cost”: Talk about stopping kidney dialysis. Social Science & Medicine. 2007;64(11):2236-2247. doi:10.1016/j.socscimed.2007.02.016

But they would want this to be:
1. Russ AJ, Shim JK, Kaufman SR. The value of “life at any cost”: talk about stopping kidney dialysis. Social Science & Medicine. 2007;64(11):2236-2247.

so, no DOI and no capitalization after the colon. Haven't figured out how to get rid of the capitalization after the colon yet.
  • JAMA does want the DOI included, see for example https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamanetworkopen/fullarticle/2739049

Subtitle capitalization was addressed in your other thread. That is fixed in the current Zotero beta and will be in Zotero 5.0.73 out within a few days.
  • Hi, thank you: I'm not sure why the article has that, but JAMA instructions are different, they say:
Authors are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of their references and for correct text citation. Number references in the order they appear in the text; do not alphabetize. In text, tables, and legends, identify references with superscript arabic numerals. When listing references, follow AMA style and abbreviate names of journals according to the journals list in PubMed. List all authors and/or editors up to 6; if more than 6, list the first 3 followed by "et al." Note: Journal references should include the issue number in parentheses after the volume number.

    Examples of reference style:

  • AMA has indicated that they prefer the DOI be included in submissions. It helps with indexing, and it may be the typesetter removes the DOI. I recommend you leave it in.
