Manually Indexing Citations

Hello Everyone,

If an article website or something of that nature does not index properly and automatically, is there a way to manually enter the information pertaining to the file citation?

Thanks!
  • Sure, you can always edit data in the right-hand pane manually.

But make sure you've read through Adding Items to Zotero to understand all the possible ways of adding items.
  • Thanks! However, for some items, there is no option to edit, only a white box where I am allowed to type. How could I insert information for an item like this?

  • You have selected the attachment file, not a proper Zotero item. Right click on file and choose Retrieve Metadata for PDF. If that can’t find the information, then right click on it again and choose Create Parent Item. Then you can manually change the item type to the correct one and enter the item metadata.

Do review this page below for the best ways to add items to Zotero. You should virtually never have to manually enter item data.
