Zotero not responding when I try to add citation in Word

I am having a problem with Zotero. I cannot add references in my Word document. I have the desktop version and the Chrome add-on. I am using Microsoft Word and my computer is running Windows 10. I don't know what the problem is, can someone please help?

    What exactly happens when you click the Add/Edit Citation button in the Zotero tab in Word?

    Have you tried restarting your computer. If Zotero is closed do you get a prompt telling you to open Zotero? When you open it does it still not work?
