top collection hierarchy doesn't show items in view

If we have a hierarchy of sub collections such as :

Collection0:
|
|-----> Collection1
|-----> Collection2
|-----> Collection3

Selecting the top collection Collection0 doesn't show all the items in that collection including all items in subsequent collections.
