Style Error: American Chemical Society

Accessed date information should be included in electronic sources (my particular areas of interest for this are journal articles).

Style guide recommends (pg. 319):

Zloh, M.; Esposito, D.; Gibbons, W. A. Helical Net Plots and Lipid Favourable Surface Mapping of Transmembrane Helices of Integral Membrane Proteins: Aids to Structure Determination of Integral Membrane Proteins. Internet J. Chem. 2003, 6 (accessed April 29, 2019).

Zotero creates:

Zloh, M.; Esposito, D.; Gibbons, W. A. Helical Net Plots and Lipid Favourable Surface Mapping of Transmembrane Helices of Integral Membrane Proteins: Aids to Structure Determination of Integral Membrane Proteins. Internet J Chem 2003, 6.

  • ACS would generally not regard this as an “electronic source” considering it is a journal article with page numbers (one could view this in print). If you want the access date to appear though, open the Cite pane of Zotero preferences and check the box for Include URL for paper articles.
  • The above example is from the ACS guide (it's an online only journal).
The ACS style currently only does URLs and accessed dates for webpages -- we should probably expand that, yes.
