Grouping References (Bibliography) by Tag or Subcollection

Greetings,

I'm new to Zotero so pardon my ignorance. I'm writing academic assignments using APA format. This format allows grouping of the References (Bibliography) by category (e.g. Books, Court Cases, Journal Articles, etc.). I have these references organized by category into subcollections and I have also tagged them similarly. Is it possible for Zotero to automatically group these references when adding them to my MS Word document?

I'm afraid not, no. It is possible to sort the bibliography by item type by modifying the citation style, but you can't use collections or tags for this.

Ok. Well, how do I do that? I've downloaded the XML file. Where do I define the ordering?

Yeah! It worked. Had to move the "" around a bit but it works! Now, to be really fancy, is there a way to put a type header before each group??? So it would be like:

Books
...citation 1
...citation 2
...citation N

Journal Articles
...citation 1
...citation 2
...citation N

By the way, I'm using the addon for MS Word.

No, you'll have to put the type headers in before submitting/sending/sharing (you'll want to do this in a copy of the document with citations unlinked, so Zotero doesn't overwrite those changes)
