Square brackets & superscript citations

I am writing an article that requires in-text citations that are both square brackets and superscript. So for example "The sun is yellow.^[1]"

Ideally I'd like to format AMA to cite it this way. Currently it is just superscript, but I'd like it to be superscript + brackets. Does anyone know how to do this?

It's doable by modifying the style, adding prefix="[" suffix="]"
to this line: <layout delimiter="," vertical-align="sup">.

What is this for? If this is an existing journal or styleguide, we can also just put the style up.

Better to use China National Standard GB/T7714-2015(NUMERIC, CHINESE) for both square brackets and superscript.
