Error message

Seems to get hung up and won't refresh. Also won't generate my bibliography. Please help!

    Actually, bibliography just generated, so that's not a problem.

    OK, now the bibliography keeps disappearing. It will be there, then disappear and then say "Automatic citation updates are disabled. To see the bibliography, click Refresh in the Zotero toolbar."

    If I turn on Automatic citations, will it keep the bibliography permanently in my Word doc?

    The reason that it is replaced with the warning message is to avoid an incorrect/out of date bibliography being shown. My recommendation would be to delete the bibliography entirely until you are finished writing. This will make updating your document faster. Then, when you are done, insert the bibliography again as a last step. It will be up to date and ready to go then.

    Turning on automatic citations will keep the bibliography up to date as you add new citations, yes, but with 1000 citations, that would be painfully slow each time you add a new citation.
