Error: can't assign to properties of (new string("out of memory")): not an object

I am not sure how this error arose. I created some new subcollections of a subcollection and began moving papers into the different sub-subcollections. At some point, I noticed that Zotero Standalone was showing a red exclamation mark in the upper right hand corner of the window.

I ran the report error process and was told to post the error and the report ID to the forums. Since this is my first time to post to this forum I am unsure what I need to post or where I need to post it.

I am running Microsoft Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit, version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1, Build 7601, with 24 GB RAM.

I'd guess that you added an image to a note in Zotero. That's not technically supported — it's a bit of a historical fluke that you can do it at all — and it can cause this problem if you add a very large file. (Normally there's a clearer error message that tells you images in notes don't sync.)

Searching for <img in Everything mode should show you notes containing images. You'd want to remove the images from the notes and add them as attachments instead. We're hoping to properly support images in notes in the future.

I have very few notes added. I don't recall ever adding an image to a note. I'd have to go through all my notes to make sure, though.
    a. Is there another possible cause to this problem?
    b. Is there a way to quickly scan all notes to see if I can find the offending entry?
  • See my message above — I gave a way to search.
  • Thank you.

I did not find an image in notes anywhere. I did, on a whim, ask to check for updates. Zotero said it had an update it wanted to run. I ran it. It synced with no errors.
