Change from using zotero in google docs to word

I am currently writing a book. I have been using Google Docs and the zotero plugin. I currently have 500 references. The publisher requires that I submit the manuscript in Word for them to edit.

I fear that if I transfer the document to Word and were to add/delete/alter some references, that a new bibliography/reference list will be created. How do I combat this so that I can just continue working on the book in the Word document? Do I have to export and then import my zotero library?
