UpdateCitations (ZoteroScholarCitations) no longer working

I've been using the add-on ZoteroScholarCitations for a while, which writes into the Extra field the number of citations that a paper has, according to Google Scholar. This was done automatically upon saving a new paper to Zotero, and could also be used manually, by right-clicking on an existing paper and choosing UpdateCitations.

Recently, this addon (or something in Zotero allowing it) has stopped working. Can anyone suggest a way to get it back?

One likely explanation is that Google Scholar has blocked you for repeated automated requests (see https://zotero.org/support/kb/site_access_limits). If that is the case, you will need to wait for Google to unblock you.

If that isn't the case, you will need to contact the plugin developer https://github.com/beloglazov/zotero-scholar-citations

Thanks very much. It's probably not a GS ban, as that normally opens up a captcha page which in this case does not appear (and also I can access GS normally). I'll just contact the author then.
