Installing Mendeley on a Mac

Hi. I am a librarian and I use Zotero standalone on my PC. I sometimes assist patrons who have Macs. I've vaguely recalled that when I've tried installing Zotero (and the word plug-in) with them on their Macs, they were prompted to install something else. I think it was Java or something? Has anyone else experienced something like this?
  • You are thinking of the need to install the Java Development Toolkit when users want to use Zotero with LibreOffice (not Word) on Mac. https://www.zotero.org/support/system_requirements
  • Thanks for such a quick response! We weren't using LibreOffice at the time. This was a while back, though - so something else on her computer might not have been meeting those system requirements. I will view them with the patron first as a checklist before proceed to install.
  • Yes, if you aren't using LibreOffice, there is no need to install the Java Development Toolkit or Java Runtime Environment.
