I went to update my bibliography and received the error: "Integration.Session.editBibliography: called without loaded citations"

When I logged the debug output, I got this:

Really not sure what it means or how to fix it.

    After posting this, I searched for the error elsewhere on the forums.
    I made a new document and copied everything over and it seems to have resolved itself. However, I am still curious.

    Does anyone know what causes the error, so that it can be avoided in the future?
