MS Word: Citations/References showing up as plain text

Hi,

I am not seeing the grey citation/reference "fields" in MS Word docs.
I am using latest zotero (5.0.60), Office 16 and have tried reinstalling the word plugin. I did not click "unlink". I can edit/add references within the plain text looking citations.

Please help! Thanks

As I mentioned on Twitter, these aren't plain text. They just don't have shading enabled. That's a Word setting - you can just google for instructions to change these:
