How can I cite one source multiple times?

I am working in MS word, and I have a source that I am using several times throughout the document. Each time it is assigned a sequential number, so that at the bottom teh citations for 1,2,3 etc... are all the same source. I thought Zotero would automatically merge identical sources into one footnote. Has anyone run into this problem?
  • Footnotes are always strictly sequential -- Word doesn't actually permit anything else.

What it sounds like you're looking for is a numerical style -- e.g. Nature, IEEE, and Vancouver among those pre-installed. These styles will repeat the citation number if an item is already cited and the provide a numbered bibliography corresponding to citation numbers at the end.
