Abstract in Note

Hi,

I have noticed a new behaviour of Zotero when saving metadata from Firefox: The abstract is saved in a note instead of the abstract field in the info tab. I would prefer the old behaviour. Is there a way to tell Zotero to save the abstract into the abstract field again? I have looked in the settings and did not find anything related.
Of course I can copy the abstract from the note to the abstract field and delete the note. But it would be far more elegant if Zotero did this directly as before.

Thank you for a hint,
Matthias
  • That's certainly not a purposeful change nor is it universal (e.g. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22289095 saves to the abstract field) so we'd want to see sample URLs where this occurs (given that this isn't a decision Zotero made, it's also not something you can set with a preference, of course)
  • The url you give does indeed not save the abstract in a note for me.
    But this one does:
    https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/0022-3727/38/4/004/meta
I already had that one in my database, it didn't put the abtract in a note when I saved it earlier.
  • We use the bibtex from IOP and that has the abstract in "annote" rather than "abstract" -- no idea why they'd change that, but Zotero's behavior on that didn't change. While we can work around that, it'd be better for IoP to fix on their end, so if you could contact them, that'd be great. (Typically it's easier to ask about their bibtex rather than mention Zotero as they don't necessarily understand how Zotero works)
  • Done.
We will see what the reaction will be...
