Add links in documents between reference and citation

I would like to go from the citation to the reference list and back while working on my word (or libreoffice) documents . Could this feature be added?

From : "we have done this as in (1)"
To: "1. Smith, J. How to link documents"

Devs have looked at this and it´s surprisingly difficult to add, so unlikely to happen any time soon, I´m afraid.
