Choose destination collection with Zotero Firefox connector

Hi all,

I am using Zotero Firefox connector and it is working great for most documents, especially when I am on an IEEE page. However, sometimes I find directly the PDF of a paper, via Google Scholar, and I want to add it to my library under a specific collection.

Unfortunately, in this case, the Zotero connector just saves the PDF in the last used collection, if I'm not mistaken. Is there any way to have Zotero connector ask in which collection I want to put the PDF, like it does when there is any other kind of document?

Many thanks!
I tried searching the forums for this problem, but to no avail.
  • Unfortunately that's a recent Firefox limitation. When viewing a PDF in Firefox, extensions are no longer able to show any UI (such as the save popup). This was a change for security reasons, but we're hoping they find a way to restore this ability.

This still works in Chrome, for what it's worth.
  • Ahh, damn! So many great extensions have regressed in functionality due to this new restriction (example: https://github.com/musically-ut/arXiv-title-fixer/issues/9 )! I didn't make the connection since the dialog was shown somehow out of the page.

    Thank you!
It would be great if other users would vote or add a comment on this bug on Firefox: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1454760 (you can login with GitHub)

(ah, you also commented on the bug! Thank you! I'm a bit worried that the bug is shown as "Resolved, Invalid". Should we open a new one, or it will be just marked as duplicate?)
  • generally non-technical comments on a bugtracker are not going to be well received; I'd advise against that - and most certainly don't create a new bug report.
