(Group) Storage

Hi guys,

we have a group in zotero and want to find out how much storage we already use. Unfortunately we cannot upload more data now so we need to be over the free of charge 300 mb storage.

Would be great if you could help. Thx!!
  • https://zotero.org/storage when logged in as the group owner. Group files only count against the owner’s storage quota (and just the item data doesn’t take any space at all).
  • I mean we have to find out if it makes more sense to buy the 2 GB storage additionally or not. But to clarify that we need to know how huge our group storage is now. Is there no chance to find it out? We need to share the PDF's inside Zotero, so not only the item data is in there
  • I'm not really sure what your question is. If you're hitting the 300 MB limit now, you (or, rather, the group owner) would need more space to continue syncing files. If you're not, you shouldn't worry about it until you are.

We get this error : Die Gruppe 'Masterprojekt 18/19' hat ihr Zotero-Dateispeicherungskontingent ausgeschöpft. Einige Dateien wurden nicht hochgeladen. Andere Zotero-Daten werden weiterhin zum Server synchronisiert.

Der Gruppenbesitzer kann das Speicherungskontigent in den Speichereinstellungen auf zotero.org vergrößern."

So I guess we are already over the 300 mb storage. But now we ask ourselves whether 2 GB would be enough storage for our project. To find it out we would like to know how much storage we already have- is it 400 mb or are we talking about 900 mb for example
  • There's no real way to estimate that. For a personal library with no groups you can get a rough estimate (though online storage will be lower, since it's partially compressed) by checking the size of the 'storage' directory in your Zotero data directory, but that's not currently separated by library, so it's not really useful for groups. And it wouldn't even really work for Zotero to estimate it locally when it showed that error, since different people can contribute to the group from different computers (so everyone in the group would have to try to sync and then you'd have to manually add up all the amounts of unuploaded data).

But note that you can change your storage level without paying again. So you can start with 2 GB, and if that's not enough you can change it to 6 GB, and it'll simply adjust your expiration date accordingly.
