Sorry to ask such a dumb question -- I'm sure it's in the documentation but I just can't find it -- I think I'm using the wrong terminology -
How do you exclude a type of reference from your search results? e.g., if I don't want web pages in my bibliography. Searching and putting in, "Type" "is not" doesn't seem to do the trick. (I'm thinking "type" in this context refers to a different field than what I want, which is reference type, e.g., newspaper article, thesis, etc. -- so, yes, I'm probably missing the *word* for what I mean by reference type? Or something? I'd rather not sort by type and then select accordingly).

Maybe "Item Type" is what you're looking for?
