I have multiple references having the same PDF document as an attachment (duplicated) and I'd like to delete a duplicated reference while merging its annotations into the reference's PDF I want to keep.
The thing is that some are Zotero annotations and some have been made from another app, and I want to have all of them into a single PDF.
Workaround: 1. Export Zotero PDF reader annotated file using File → “Export PDF…” from the library view or “Save As…” from the PDF reader 2. Merge externally as suggested by @adamsmith (free approach with Foxit Reader → https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/79011/merge-pdf-annotation#231283) 3. Import the merged PDF into Zotero 4. Transform PDF annotations into Zotero annotations by File → “Import Annotations…” 5. Erase the previous PDF file link into Zotero
If the same PDF was annotated in both Zotero and another app, you can simply do this: 1. Temporarily unlink the PDF file from Zotero (delete the file, not the reference itself) 2. Then relink to the other PDF file (double click on ref and select new path) 3. Transform PDF annotations into Zotero annotations by File → “Import Annotations…”.
