Copy/paste from different documents in word= double, triple references from the same source

I'm in the final stage of my doctoral thesis in word. The final document is text from other word documents. However, Zotero doesn't recognize the same source, thus starts adding letters in the reference, for instance: (C. Jones & Matlay, 2011b). And yes, there shouldn't be a C in front of Jones. I have no clue what to do.

I have tried:
- to refresh
- to change reference style and back again to apa
- to change font and back again
- to copy to document and put it in a new document and then start Zotero

The only solution left is either to rewrite the entire document or upload it to google docs and copy in back again in a word document and then add all the references from scratch. I can do it of course, but are there no other solutions?

Anyone who can help?
