Problems with starting Zotero on Andrew File System (AFS) and Windows 10

DebugID: D1994980014

Since we have introduced Windows 10 at our workplace computers, we experience problems with Zotero. The program won't start, instead there is one message like "there was an error starting Zotero" with just an OK button. When I click on the button, the program closes.

On Windows 7, everything is ok. Our IT department said that it could be related to the deprecated AFS file system which is used at our institution for all hard drives (we do not have local physical drives anymore).

Maybe someone can help?
  • [JavaScript Error: "NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED: Component returned failure code: 0x80520015 (NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED) [nsIRDFRemoteDataSource.Flush]" {file: "resource://gre/components/nsHandlerService.js" line: 392}]
You can try deleting the various .rdf files in your Zotero profile directory to see if that helps, but if not there's nothing we can do for this — as far as Zotero is being told, it can't write to those files. This is is all Mozilla code, so you'd likely see the same thing with Firefox (or could, given the right circumstances).
