Comment as footnote?

Besides the standard citable footnote/endnotes, there are times when one needs to insert a comment, but I'd like it to be part of the numbered sequenced citations. I think I can create a "note" but it doesn't allow one to name it -- it just says "note". Any other ideas/suggestions?
