RTF/ODF Plugin not working

Hi all--

Am writing super frustrated, and not terribly technically savvy, so thanks in advance for any and all help. Up until 20 minutes ago, I had been using Zotero integration in Scrivener with no problems. Now, despite the RTF/ODF plugin supposedly being installed correctly (and having deleted and re-installed it), when I click Tools in Zotero when I want to compile my Scrivener document, the menu still reads only "RTF Scan" instead of "RTF/ODF Scan." I was able to compile a test document this morning, and now that I need to compile a chapter, the correct option just seems to have disappeared, with me having changed nothing in either program. Any thoughts?

Does the plugin show as installed and enabled in Tools → Add-ons → Extensions?

Yep! I double-checked that as soon as I noticed the problem.

The plugin developers will need to take a look, but if you provide a Report ID we can see if anything is showing up in there.

Nothing relevant in there. Does it work if you reinstall Zotero 5.0.55?

And can you confirm that upgrading to 5.0.56 makes it go away again? Knowing that would help the people who will troubleshoot this.

When I click About, I am told the version I re-downloaded is 5.0.55. I'm not sure which version I was running before, but the plugin now seems to be working.

Right, I'm asking what happens when you upgrade again to 5.0.56 via Help → "Check for Updates…". If it doesn't work you can revert to 5.0.55, but for troubleshooting it would be helpful to confirm that it's the 5.0.55 → 5.0.56 upgrade that broke this.

Ah, I see now! I didn't realize Zotero had updated. Yes, it is clearly the update to 5.0.56 that broke the plugin. I updated again just now to confirm.

Generally I´d recommend avoiding using an old Zotero version -- you´re missing out on new features and bug fixes, including potentially, though not in this case, security fixes, so only do this if you really need the ODF scan functionality right now, e.g. to finalize a manuscript.

Will there be an effort to fix ODF scans? After three weeks, it's getting pretty frustrating for zotero to keep automatically updating to versions where the ODF scan doesn't work.

OK, with apologies for the delay, I've just released version 2.0.39, which has dstillman's fix and worked in a quick test.

I think automatic update should work, but if it doesn't, you can manually update by reinstalling from https://github.com/Juris-M/zotero-odf-scan-plugin/releases

Note that this does _not_ fix the failure to automatically install the Scannable Cite translator. I'll see if we can fix that for the next release, but until then new installations will need to manually downlod the file from https://github.com/Juris-M/zotero-odf-scan-plugin/raw/master/resource/translators/Scannable Cite.js , place it in Zotero's translator directory, and restart Zotero.
