Citation highlights have disappeared

Hi
After renewing the free office 365 licence for students, the grey highlights on teh citations have disappeared. I have tried to find:

• Word for Mac: Open Word → Preferences → View and set “Field shading” to “Never”, “Always”, or “When selected”.

..but haven't found these buttons.

Can anyone give advice?
Thank you
S.H.

  • Do the citations still work? I.e. if you move your cursor to the citation and click "Add/Edit Citation", does it pull up the existing citation entry in the add citation dialog?
  • The Field Shading option is a drop down menu, not a set of buttons.
  • Yes it does..
  • I’m not sure what you mean by the last comment. Could you elaborate?
  • (that refers to my "do the citations still work")
  • Yes that is what I meant. In the meantime, I found the solution to the problem.
Here is the explanation in German, I will try to translate:
"Die Einstellungen finden Sie, wenn Sie in der obersten Menüleiste auf « Word » klicken. Innerhalb der Einstellungen wählen Sie dann „Ansicht“. Hier stellen sie die Einstellung „Feldschattierung“ auf immer. Dann sollten die Zotero-Links immer sichtbar sein."
"The preferences you find in the top menu bar, klick on "word". There you choose "view". Then you set "field shadings" to "always".
This is somehow exactly what it said in the internet, but due to language settings, I didn't get it first time round. Thanks to you all for trying to help!
