Multiple accounts/profiles

Hello -- I tried to set up multiple profiles with zotero standalone. I create a new profile using the -P command and linked the new profile to a new profile folder .. but when I open Zotero in the new profile all the data from my old profile appears. If I delete items from this new profile ... will they also be deleted in my old profile? Or ... is it possible to create a new profile empty of any data???
