Automatically suppressing author!

A colleague of mine is experiencing a strange phenomenon: occasionally, seemingly at random, when she adds a citation it appears as year-only. There's nothing unusual that I can see in the library entries, and most of the citations she adds in the same doc. are normal, so it's not a style issue.

Any idea why it could be happening or how to fix it?

    First thing to try would be
    a) same citation style, same citation in a new document
    b) different citation style, same citation in a new document

    This is almost certainly due to either the data in Zotero, the citation style, or a combination of both.
