Only the year in brackets

Is there a workaround for Zotero (in Word and OpenOffice/LibreOffice) to insert a quotation in the text in the following form in which only the year is in brackets?
"Author (2018) writes that ..."
It is important that this quotation is also updated after changes in the database or the citation style, which is not the case after editing in the editor.
  • Zotero has a feature for this. Please look for the "Suppress Author" feature on this page: https://www.zotero.org/support/libreoffice_writer_plugin_usage
  • Thanks for your tip @damnation .
This works, but is not a good way to look for possible changes to the author's name in the database or citation style.
A better alternative here would be to have an additional option to suppress the year and the brackets in order to take over the author name with link to the Zotero database.
The best option would of course be to choose between author in text and author in brackets in only one quotation.

@gi_z, your request is another vote of support for the very long discussion here:

I've made an awkward Word macro to add that functionality (linked from that discussion) if you absolutely need it, but it is far from ideal (and would need to be adapted for any individual style you use). Many of us are hoping this feature is added to Zotero soon. For now you'll need to decide what the best of the limited current options is for you.
