file syncing and enabling

Hello,

My name is Sandra and I am brand new to the Zotero community. I am a student at Columbia College Chicago and I am a research assistant to one of our art history professors. I have set up the Zotero account for my professor but she but needs to be able to access her library and files from any computer and I need to be able to access all of the information as well. I am waiting for an answer from user support at the college about the webDAV needed to sync the files. I read about the third party support if needed. Could someone please explain this and perhaps give me advice as to how to find this webDAV information? I will use the support from Columbia but I am not sure if they are set up for this. Thank you and I appreciate the help. Sandra
By the way, my professor and I are very excited about Zotero and it is going to be a crucial tool for helping her organize her research materials.
  • Hi Sandra--my guess is that if your college has some kind of NetFiles or other networked storage for individuals (usually accessed using your College ID/login or similar) it would work for webDAV.

Alternatively, many users have found that Jungledisk is a very cost-effective solution, and pretty easy to set up, there's a discussion of it here or just search the forums for Jungledisk. My group is using Jungledisk and it's working nicely. Apple's mobile me/idisk seems like another decent bet, but search the Zotero forums to make sure.

WebDAV can be a little fussy to set up, but in my experience as a non-programmer, once it's set up it works great.
