I have a new mac and trying to copy citations into my library however, I can't see the usual Z in my toolbar. I have downloaded the safari connector and updated the zotero software but still do not see the Z icon.

Apple redesigned the latest versions of Safari in a way that Zotero and many other plugins or extensions will not work. I work in an all-Mac shop. We use Firefox for accessing publisher sites or databases because Firefox (and also Chrome) will work with Zotero. There is more information at the link above.
