Zotero template has to be manually selected every time I open Word

Zotero toolbar has to be manually launched every time I restart Word by rechecking the Zotero.dotm entry in "Global Templates and Add-Ins" in the Tools>Templates dialog in Word. I have ensured that the template is located in the folder indicated for 'User Templates' in Word preferences. Zotero works just fine once I check the box. So, why doesn't the Zotero.dotm checkbox stick?

Versions:
Word 2016 v.16.17 (Mac).
Zotero 5.0.55
Zotero Word for Mac Integration: 5.0.15.SA.5.0.55

The Zotero.dotm file is in both of these locations:
Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Templates
Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Startup/Word
  • This is a Word, not a Zotero issue per-se, so Microsoft support might be able to say more. Otherwise I'd try moving the Zotero.dotm file out of the Templates folder and only keeping it in the startup folder. Something trivial as renaming it to Zotero1.dotm might help.
