Adding reference in writer changes tab stop

Hi,

when I add a new reference in LibreOffice Writer (6.1), it changes the tab stop to default (1.27 cm), even though I set it in general preferences as 0.7 cm.
Was looking at this post https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/60233/ but it seems to be unrelated. I am using templates for text, heading, footnote and it's working fine.

Also, the change only occurs with certain citation styles, like Chicago Manual of Style 17th edition (note) and Zeitschrift für die Geschichte des Oberrheins (German).
Cell for example is not affected.
  • how exactly are you adding the references? And do you mean citations or bibliography entries?
  • Sorry, I forgot about that! I'm adding citations through the libreoffice addin (with keyboard shortcut). The problem occurs both with citation in text and as footnote. And I just tried to add a bibliography with Cell and tab stop formatting changed too.
  • When you insert a citation, Zotero applies the current paragraph formatting style (e.g., Normal, Body, Heading, etc.) to the paragraph (this is necessary for technical reasons). If you had manually changed the tab stop in the paragraph, this would thus get overwritten. To prevent this, change the paragraph formatting style itself (e.g., modify Normal or make a new style with the correct tab stops and apply to to the paragraph). https://help.libreoffice.org/Writer/Styles_and_Formatting

For the bibliography, Zotero sets it to use the Reference1 style. Modify this style to change the tab settings of the bibliography (when you change citation styles, Zotero will update the Reference1 style line spacing and tab settings to match the requirements of the new style).

  • I might be missing something. I have set tab stop for all paragraph styles, and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It's only a minor issue though. I can just use a table instead manual tab stops.

But then, when I have citations/footnotes within a table, and I try to change the citation style (through libreoffice addin), I sometimes get a java error message and the style isn't applied correctly. Happens with the same citation styles mentioned above, which makes me think it might be a citation style issue after all?
