Report ID 844105261

newest beta; probably just because the interface isn't intuitive for Mac OS.
Haven't figured out why every item now has two levels.
Something I did while trying to copy the URL for a link produced the error report.
Likely right-mouseclick -- which seems to open a link.
I was using the keystroke that usually gets a pulldown menu so I could copy the link.
  • Are you reporting a problem? If so, please say what it is. There are no Zotero errors in that error report.
  • OK, I'm new, that was the first Zotero popup error report I've seen.
I'll ignore those hereafter, unless I am aware there's a real problem.
  • Well, what do you mean by "popup error report"?

You don't need to use Report Errors unless there's a problem, since, as it says, "The error log may include messages unrelated to Zotero." But if you're getting some sort of error message elsewhere, you'd want to report that.
  • By a "popup error report" I mean this:

A window that appears on the screen, overlapping Zotero, just after doing something in Zotero (after right-clicking on a URL, thinking I could copy it--my mistake).

It included this: Report ID 844105261 (number in red font)
    It mentioned Zotero.
It did say an error log might contain messages unrelated to Zotero, as you mention.
It said the report might not be looked at unless I asked about it.

I'll look for an error log and make sure to review it before allowing another report to go in, if I see another one pop up that mentions Zotero.
  • Manually selecting "Report Errors" under the gear menu is the only way to open the error reporting wizard. It doesn't pop up by itself—at least, unless something else very strange is happening. It's more likely that you accidentally opened it yourself.

But let us know if you can reproduce this.
  • Ah, that makes sense. I must have accidentally caused 'Reporting Errors' to open.
After that it was just unfamiliar interface, unexpected behavior.

When a little scrolling window appears, I'd routinely click in the lower right corner, and drag to make the window larger. My old eyes dislike small text in small scrollboxes.

And there's the Oops -- clicking lower right on that window sends its contents.

The report seems to include an error for lots of things I've read. No way to edit that mess? I certainly don't want to be sending you all all that. If I can't edit it, I'll skip it.

OK, lesson learned. It's not a Mac-like interface, scrutinize before click/drag on anything. Makes sense. Sorry to have bothered you.
