Cannot create App Keyboard Shortcuts in Mac

Has anyone had success creating keyboard shortcuts within system Preferences on a Mac? If I goto Apple > System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > App Shortcuts and create specify something like the menu item "Advanced Search" should be launched via Cmd + Shift + F, pressing those keys does nothing. I realize that I can also create keyboard shortcuts within Zotero via Preferences > Advanced > Shortcuts - but that approach is somewhat limited, because only a few commands are available & they all require Cmd + Shift.

    Not your question, but the Zutilo plugin also opens almost all Zotero functions for shortcuts.

    This doesn't appear to work in Firefox either, so this seems to be a limitation of the Mozilla framework. I've created an issue to track it, but I suspect it will just be fixed with our switch to a new architecture in the next major version.
