International characters in usernames

I recently created an account on zotero, so I could sync my library. Apparently I was feeling a bit experimental so the username I used was "Søren Gammelmark" (with a danish letter 'ø'). I could easily log in and out (by e-mail address), but the sync-feature in Zotero does not allow e-mail addresses as username and does not accept international characters for username (i'm running firefox on linux -- I do not know if this is an issue).

I do not know if this is a bug as such, but in any case the zotero website should not allow international usernames or support for them should be implemented in the plugin itself.

P.s: I have created a new account (gammelmark), so if anyone is able to delete the old account they are welcome to it (so it can release my e-mail address).

    The username checking in the client dates to before there were centralized Zotero accounts. It's been removed on the development trunk, so the next beta of Zotero will allow any username used on the site. Thanks.
