Troubles with OpenOffice Portable 3.0 (communicating with 2.0b4)
I'm trying to get OpenOffice Portable 3.0 and Zotero 2.0b4 (installed on Firefox Portable 3.0.9) to communicate on a University-owned computer, where I have no admin or write privileges.
I was having a similar problem with installation to the people in these threads, with OOo Portable crashing every time I tried to install the extension:

I tried installing a patch suggested by a developer on the OpenOffice Portable forum (quite a few others with the problem here):

This effectively installed a user settings folder with a pre-installed version of the OOo plugin, but now there's a new problem: I have a Zotero toolbar with all the right buttons (as opposed to text labels). No more error messages, but when I click on one of the Zotero buttons, nothing at all happens.
I've tried taking the whole USB setup home and running it on a different computer: it works perfectly without any changes.
So there are two problems, apparently caused by some unknown condition on my University's computers: installing causes a runtime error (for which there is already a thread, and for which I guess there are now some workarounds), and the OOo plugin does not communicate with Zotero in OOo Portable 3.0.
Any thoughts?
